We loved the overall traditional "craftsman:" ambiance of the hotel featuring stained glass and Kutani ceramic pieces throughout the lobby.. The exceptional morning buffet was traditional and focused on vegetables and dishes from the Ishikawa area. An amazing array of traditional Japanese breakfast dishes made our mornings. What made our evenings was the solo pianist playing on the lobby grand piano. It was a great way to end our day exploring Kanazawa. On our last day we just had enough time to visit our favorite garden Kenrokuen and was really short on time to see it. But to our pleasant surprise, Kenrokuen was only 10 minutes walking-distance away from the Hotel making it possible for us to see this beautiful garden in the short time we had left in Kanazawa. We then returned to the hotel to catch their shuttle bus to Kanazawa JR Station. This shuttle bus to the JR station was such a huge benefit and convenience. Love this hotel!

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff. Front desk ladies were so charming, sweet and helpful. Piano concerts in the lobby every evening were a unique and nice bonus. The breakfast was perfect for two days. Enough variety that you could try everything without over-eating or getting bored of the same menu. The location was amazing right next to the castle grounds and garden. Also the neighborhood, though relatively quiet (which was nice), was very close to both the market and a few really fantastic restaurants! We loved our time at this hotel and can't wait for our next opportunity to return!

Everything! The Japanese style room, the yukatas, the onsen, the breakfast buffet with regional specialties... The position is strategic, a stone's throw from the castle and the Kenroku-en garden, and there is a free hourly shuttle from the station to the hotel and viceversa: very very convenient! Although the staff's English is not as good as we found in Tokyo, they are extremely helpful and friendly. They helped us with restaurant and reservations and went the extra mile to help (literally - even came to our room to bring the restaurant map).

This Ryokan hotel is just next to two amazing sights: Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden. The hotel provides you yukata for men and kimono for women, and you can keep them if you like (we did!). Breakfast was good but not great. The traditional Japanese style room was excellent with a small sitting area, which was quite pleasant. The staff was excellent and made us feel quite welcome. The onsen was excellent and quite hot; the water minerally and soothing. The facility was excellent.

A bit dated and a bit tired, but what a lovely hotel with large rooms and great location. Sitting areas in the room were wonderful, the onsen was very nice, we really enjoyed our stay here. Everything we needed for the two days we were in Kanazawa were within easy walking distance. It's location counts for a lot. We had a room that faced the castle though it was not high enough to let us look over the castle grounds. Still looking into the hillside at nature was a nice change for us.
